The Internet Citizen

the internet is single handedly the most powerful tool for free speech in a country. the empowerment and euphoria given by anonymity and lack of consequences can be easily be addictive, especially when everyone on the internet has something to say. This mechanical wonder comes with its own world full of its own laws, economy and , community. we don't realize it but we live 2 separate lives, the same body inhabits 2 people, one living on the internet, and the other living in between the hours of no internet. one can be forgiven for being part of this mania. the world we live in right now, is  full of people who are chronically online. With this new world we get new types of criminals. the unconventional crimes that frankly enough ,this world has not figured out what to do with. The embracers and true realizers of the power of anonymity or as they are popularly termed as online "Trolls". These individuals are the true inheritors of this lawless land we call the internet. Now what constitutes as a troll can range from anything to light, jokes under a post, to perverted and sexualized comments towards individuals. Morality of the internet for the majority is  up to context and interpretation, this is of course speaking by ignoring the obviously unlawful acts that may be considered criminal.  trolling can be light giggles or serious bullying towards individuals. Common types of trolling usually revolves around xenophobia, pedophilia,  sexualizing ,islamophobia, etc. the internet constantly tries to justify these acts as mere jokes and not intentional harm. Its up to the reader how he wishes to receive this individuals. they can be encountered all over the internet. in every social media website. understanding the psyche of these individuals is not easy, as this bunch can range from naive youngsters being unaware of their words, to extreme individuals with a motive. the spectrum is just too wide to put a label on however, you will always know a troll when you see one. 

The Social Justice warrior

if internet is the wild-west these individuals are the sheriff of the town, at-least that's what they believe in their own world. The Social Justice Warrior  simplified to "SJW" are the exact opposite of trolls, yet their actions are not necessarily better . these anti-troll individuals usually exist on the internet with a strong sense of justice towards a personal agenda. this can range from anti body shaming, LGBTQ, racial inclusivity, anti cultural appropriation etc. the list can go on with any new emerging concern in the world. SJW are truly if by divine comedy or pure luck the exact opposites of the previously mentioned trolls. where for the trolls everything is humor, for the SJW's every word uttered is a declaration of hate against them. the SJW can be very sensitive to humor at times. This also stems from the fact that they understand the fact that humor has power and impact people's mind. Many times SJW come from a background of having been trolled or a witness to it. such an instance shapes each of their interaction online to be extremely sensitive to issues around them. Overall SJW are radical individuals working with an agenda, constantly seen arguing against trolls. their intentions are often pure and even admirable. SJW utilize internet in the best way, as a tool. the supreme tool for communication, to influence and announce to people, by reaching the hearts of many about their concerns. 

The Influencer

The celebrities of the internet. they look pretty or maybe do something that people enjoy watching, these individuals hold power, over the civilians , trolls and SJW's. the para-social relationship people can form with individuals they have never met or interacted with can be astounding. the influencers have power to shift flows of how people interact function or behave on the internet. These people are the true overlords of this world. having command of 100's and 1000's of loyal chronically online individuals. this loyalty is something even big brands are jealous of. The words of an influencer are money. 4 words from an influencer can drive a stock up or down. The requirements to be an influencer ? Be Very attractive or Be creative with your content. The former is obviously easier if you are blessed enough to be conventionally pretty. then all it takes is making an account and upload pictures every alternate day of you pretending to live a life better then others(or actually live a life better than the others)

The NPC (Civilians)

NPC or non playable character is a popular term adopted from video games, this term usually means in terms of the game ,a person that a player can only interact with and not play. and in the context of being online it just means that you have no personality(according to other individuals). its not necessarily a bad thing , not everyone is a protagonist of a story that's larger than life. if you are reading this you are most probably a civilian too. a civilian is just their to share their photos with their friends and family, maybe try (and fail) and be an influencer too. These individuals are their to have a good time and use the internet for what it has to offer. their behavior usually is a mirror of how they behave in real life. they are chained by the morality and consciousness of the real world restricting them from misbehaving online. in a way that's probably for the best. The internet is a platform for free speech, every thought is welcome, maybe your thought is wrong , maybe my thought corrects yours, maybe  yours corrects mine. this interaction of ideas flourishing is what makes the internet the modern day Athens.
