INSTAGRAM HAS RUINED YOU(and me), 

Every single day, monotonously spent scrolling through social media, getting high on the ambrosia of the "For You" page. This relationship with this entity(Social Media) turns, with every passing day, into an ironic joke on humanity as a species. What starts as a harmless way to pass time—consuming content, sharing pictures, talking to others—becomes a vast psychological experiment on humanity. It tests how far individuals can be pushed before realizing that the nectar they sip is, in actuality, poison.

Instagram is the witch from Hansel and Gretel, feeding you reels, posts, and people. It shows you the world, the limitless possibilities, but at the cost of your sanity. You are on an unending quest to satisfy your cravings for the next best thing. No matter why you use the app, the urge to feed that glutton inside you grows stronger with each day. The sheer number of options Instagram gives you—people, experiences, entire worlds—raises the standard for what you’ll accept. You don’t want just any poison; it has to be premium. Every choice and every option is carefully evaluated,

there can always be something better...

this behaviour seeps into our everyday lives, leading us to expect the extravagance of the online world in our mundanity. for some that online world is a reality, unfortunately for most that's not the case. the disillusionment never happens to separate the online world from the real. Leading to a broken man looking for what he saw online in those around him, judging people based on the artificial standards created in the online world. The most obviously visible sample of this is the impossible beauty standard, that is almost unatainable naturally. this artificial standard affects every gender on the spectrum. on both ends, one expects themselves to match these standards, and one wants these standards in their partner. 

Instagram gnaws at our minds, presenting the illusion of infinite choice. It tells us, Look, there are billions of people in the world—you can interact with all of them. It shows us the most attractive individuals, the funniest videos, the most enviable lifestyles. With each scroll, your desire for entertainment grows. You want the next post to be more captivating, the next reel to be funnier, the next image to be even more perfect.

there was a time where the fairest maiden of them all, was the one next door, but now the search for aphrodite in every women dissapoints every man. 

with Choice comes responsibility, the responsibility to make the best of it.

 we are the most advanced in technology than we have ever been, a very rhetorical statement. but very true, technology is getting much more efficient and more useful each day. one could argue and say that its getting too useful to the point where the product is not the technology but the consumer. with each strand of data, from shopping habits, to search history, to even bio data. there is not a single strand of data that the big F.A.N.G companies don't know about me (facebook, amazon , netflix , google). as such the perfect product is suggested for me and my brain. whether its physical or digital.
